Prerequisites RequiredIncreasing numbers of Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19) survivors of all ages are reporting chronic or "long-haul" symptoms that require skilled rehabilitation to restore function and quality of life. Some studies indicate that 87% will have at least one lingering symptom at 2 months post virus, even if acute symptoms of the coronavirus were mild. The most reported long-term symptoms have the potential to thwart rehab efforts unless properly addressed:fatigue, dyspnea, tachycardia, exercise intolerance, "brain fog"/cognitive effects, sleep disturbances, cough, and chronic pain. These persisting phenomena are often seen in patients with chronic syndromes. Corresponding neuro-immune physiological adaptations are well-documented to heighten sensitivity of mechanisms intended to protect in times of distress, eventually outlasting their usefulness. This intermediate level workshop will review evolving research onPost-COVID-19 Syndrome, as well as more established data on similar chronic symptoms and pertinent neuro-immune physiology. Potential treatment options and case studies will be explored to facilitate participants’ confidence in identification and management of post-COVID-19 sequelae.
